Doddakoppalu Kariyappa Ravi (D K Ravi) was the other name for Honesty, Commitment, Loyalty, Justice.
Ravi was born on 10 June 1979 in Kunigal taluk, Tumkur district of Karnataka, into an Vokkaliga gowda family of Kariyappa and Gowramma.
He cleared the 2008 UPSC Civil Services Examination (IAS) with an all-India rank of 34.
During his stint as a Deputy commissioner of the Kolar district from August, 2013 to October, 2014, Ravi became almost a public figure due to his functioning as a pro people administrator, and launching of innovative reforms like conducting of Revenue and Podi adalats.
He was so popular among the population of Kolar district that people staged a protest against his transfer from the district.
After his transfer to Bangalore, as Additional Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Enforcement) in October 2014,he was involved in tax raids on major tax evading Real estate firms. He has with him, a list of 50 tax defaulters in Bangaluru, from whom a target of ₹1000 crore was to be collected as Tax and has already collected around ₹150 crore in first two weeks of November 2014.
On 16 March 2015 (Monday), Ravi was found hanging at his residence in Koramangala , Bangaluru.
His death infuriated masses who staged bandhs and protest all over the Karnataka.
