Lingayatism is not a caste, its a offset of religion within Hinduism. It meant for conversion. Basavanna, the twelfth century social reformer, strived to rid the Indian caste system. during the time many of vokkaligas, dalits, other obc..etc converted to Lingayatism in north karnataka. so lingayats constitutes of all caste and creed. Southern vokkaligas (people of Gangavadi/Old Mysore) refuse to accept lingayatism because of obsessive pride and identity. Present Karnataka population consist of highest 17 % of lingayats. second 16 % vokkaligas. In Lingayats, more than half of the people are vokkaligas. Patils, Goudas of north Karnataka are vokkaligas.

GTV has now set up a global technology village near Kengeri on a 59-acre (240,000 m2)technology incubator park in Bangalore. He also holds Bagmane real estate company which build tech parks, hotels, hospitals,   Leisure Resorts   ..etc Siddhartha is #73 India's Richest person.  

Doddakoppalu Kariyappa Ravi (D K Ravi) was the other name for Honesty, Commitment, Loyalty, Justice. Ravi was born on 10 June 1979 in Kunigal taluk, Tumkur district of Karnataka, into an Vokkaliga gowda family of Kariyappa and Gowramma. He cleared the 2008 UPSC Civil Services Examination (IAS) with an all-India rank of 34. During his stint as a Deputy commissioner of the Kolar district from August, 2013 to October, 2014, Ravi became almost a public figure due to his functioning as a pro people administrator, and launching of innovative reforms like conducting of Revenue and Podi adalats. He was so popular among the population of Kolar district that people staged a protest against his transfer from the district. Vokkaligas of southern karnataka also termed as Gowdas. Reason for this is vokkaligas were historically landlords, village head, palegars, military head of dynastis and are closely associate with ruling kingdoms of Gangas, Hoysalas, Mysore Arasas. Vokkaligas(Gowdas) are farmers who own huge chunk of agriculture land all of old Mysore belt. ie Bangalore, Bangalore rural, Mysore, Mandya, Hassan, Kolar, Chikkballapur, Ramnagar, Tumkur, Chikmagalur, Kodagu and Chamraj nagar districts. These districts were historically land of Gangavadi kingdom which ruled for 1000 of years peacefully.. Its true that some village head of lingayats, edigas also keep gowda surname,..'Gowda' surname typically used by vokkaliga community. Gowda for vokkaligas is gowdru gattu or self respect. Vokkaliga girls/boys fascinated to keep gowda surname.
